Marin Rescue Teams Complete Earthquake Exercise
A multi-agency search and rescue task force tested their response skills while state specialists evaluated their capabilities.
MARIN COUNTY, CA — Marin County search and rescue teams took part in an exercise Thursday to test their readiness in the event of a major earthquake or other natural disaster. Marin's Urban Search and Rescue Team and the Marin County Fire Department mobilized Thursday morning at the Commodore Webster Training Facility at Point Reyes Station.
Crews participated in a drill designed to simulate the response in the wake of a magnitude 8 earthquake along the San Andreas Fault. Specialists from the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services (OES) were on hand to evaluate the team's deployment capabilities and command procedures.
