Marin Robbery Suspect Arrested
Joseph Aaron Stewart, 30 of Novato, was arrested in connection with robberies in San Anselmo and San Rafael, authorities said.
MARIN COUNTY, CA — A Novato man was arrested Sunday for allegedly robbing Walgreens stores in San Anselmo and San Rafael.
At 10:52 a.m. Sunday, San Rafael police received a call from Central Marin Police Authority to be on the lookout for a suspect wearing a mask who threatened an employee while robbing the San Anselmo store.
About 10 minutes later, an employee from the San Rafael Walgreen's contacted police, saying a man was robbing the store on Third Street.

Police arrived to find 30-year-old Joseph Aaron Stewart walking away from the store and tried stopping him, they said. Stewart allegedly ran until he was caught by police in the 900 block of Lincoln Avenue.
Police said Stewart resisted arrest and, after a brief struggle, was taken into custody. Police said no one was hurt during the struggle. Stewart was booked in Marin County Jail.

Police said Stewart robbed the two stores to obtain undisclosed prescriptions. Stewart has allegedly been a suspect in previous robberies, and police said he was released from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation in January 2022 and placed on parole for first-degree robbery.
