Marin Standoff Ends With Shotgun-Wielding Suspect's Arrest: Cops

An officer at around 11:35 a.m. Thursday responded to Piper Lane on the report that a neighbor threatened them with a shotgun, police said.

FAIRFAX, CA — A Marin standoff that lasted several hours ended when a shotgun-wielding suspect who was accused of threatening a neighbor surrendered to authorities late Thursday afternoon, Fairfax police said.

Shelter orders issued in connection with the incident were issued at 1:25 p.m. and lifted at 4:30 p.m.

Upon officer’s arrival, a man seen holding what appeared to be a shotgun retreated into his residence and refused to communicate, police said.

Fairfax police requested crisis negotiators and a special response team to de-escalate the situation from allied agencies.

“After negotiating with the subject, he has surrendered to police on scene,” police said in a 5:33 p.m. alert.

“Shelter in place for Piper (Lane) residents has been lifted. Police will be remaining on scene continuing the investigation.”

No additional information was immediately available.

The investigation is ongoing.
