Marin Standoff Ends With Suspect’s Arrest On Weapons Charges

MARIN COUNTY, CA — A Christmas night standoff ended with the arrest of a suspect on weapons charges, the Marin County Sheriff’s Office said.
The adult male suspect was arrested on suspicion of unlawful display of a replica firearm, changing markings on a replica firearm, and being drunk in public, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies at around 9:45 p.m. Sunday responded to the Santa Venetia area on the report of a young adult male lying on the sidewalk with a pistol in his hand, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputies located the man, who appeared to be unconscious, lying on the sidewalk with what appeared to be a semi-automatic pistol in his right hand, the Sheriff's Office said.

“Eventually by formulating a tactical plan and finally making verbal contact we were able to de-escalate the situation and safely approach the subject after he dropped the gun to the ground, the Sheriff’s Office said.
