Marin Suspect Accused Of Threatening To Kill Deputy: Cops

Angel Hernandez Gutierrez, 24 of Kentfield, was being held on $50,000 bail as of Monday, authorities said.

KENTFIELD, CA — A suspect who was armed with a large kitchen knife and threatened to kill a Marin deputy was arrested over the weekend, authorities said.

Angel Hernandez Gutierrez, 24 of Kentfield, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, making criminal threats and obstructing, the Marin County Sheriff’s Office said.

Gutierrez was being held on $50,000 bail as of Monday.

A deputy at around 6:30 p.m. Saturday was unloading gear from their patrol vehicle near the Kentfield substation when Gutierrez approached the deputy holding an object later determined to be a large kitchen knife, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Gutierrez initially tried to leave the area and discard the knife, but additional deputies were summoned who helped take him into custody and recover the knife, the Sheriff’s Office said.
