SAN ANSELMO, CA — A proposal that would make a Marin town's popular outdoor dining program permanent isn’t going anywhere for now.

San Anselmo’s Town Council on Tuesday put the plan to make outdoor dining permanent on hold amid complaints from some downtown business owners who say the proposed parklet program is bad for business, The Marin Independent Journal reports.

San Anselmo, like many other municipalities, opened public spaces to outdoor dining amid the pandemic as a lifeline to local businesses.

The program enjoys overwhelming support from the town’s residents, with upwards of 90 percent backing it according to a survey cited in the IJ report.
