Marin County Adopts Plan To Improve Road Safety And Reduce Fatalities
The initiative aims for zero traffic-related deaths or serious injuries throughout the county.
MARIN COUNTY, CA — The Marin County Board of Supervisors discussed the new plan to help lower traffic fatalities in the area at their Dec. 16 meeting.
Marin County is making a move toward eliminating traffic fatalities with its newly presented Vision Zero Action Plan. The initiative aims for zero traffic-related deaths or serious injuries throughout the county — a goal backed by data, transparency and robust public engagement.
“The goal of Vision Zero is to proactively prevent, create preventative actions that prioritize safety and advance our goals of eliminating traffic related deaths and serious injuries throughout the county,” Sahar Shirazi, the new principal transportation planner for the county, told Patch.

“This really is a recreational corridor, in my mind, not just the single use sort of traffic and bicycles a lot of other things going on there. But I’m pleased with the collaboration with the cities that connect to this project,” Rodoni told Patch.
Community advocates also welcomed the new approach.
“We appreciate the level of public outreach that the county plans to do on these projects, and look forward to participating in those public processes,” said Matthew Hartzell, Director of Planning at WTV Tam, during public comment.
