Marin Town Readies To Enact Leaf Blower Ban

SAN ANSELMO, CA — Following a growing trend, San Anselmo will soon enact a ban on gas-powered leaf blowers.

The Town Council on Sept. 28 approved an ordinance banning leaf blowers amid concerns about their impact on the environment, health, and noise pollution.

The ban into effect Jan. 1.

The ordinance includes a provision calling for the gas leaf blowers to be decommissioned, recycled and disposed of through a partnership with Marin Sanitary.

San Anselmo is among the latest municipalities to ban the gardening tool that can produce more than a 100 decibels of low frequency noise.

More than 100 municipalities have already banned or limited the use of leaf blowers, Audubon reports.
