More Labor Contracts Finalized In This Bay Area County

The Board of Supervisors approved agreements they claim supports fair pay, stability and essential services.

MARIN COUNTY, CA — After reaching labor agreements with the local sheriff’s union, the County of Marin approved contracts July 15 with the probation and county management employee unions.

Marin County continues bargaining for new employee agreements. On July 15, the Board of Supervisors approved multi-year successor agreements for the next three years with the Probation Managers' Association and Marin County Management Employees' Association.

To maintain its competitiveness in the North Bay, Marin County has implemented agreements that include increased cost-of-living allowances, adjusted salaries to be closer to the market median and enhanced employee and family benefits, officials said.

“These agreements reflect our shared values and priorities,” said County Executive Officer Derek Johnson. “We are honoring the contributions of our workforce, maintaining fiscal responsibility, and building a stronger Marin for the future. I appreciate the dedication and partnership of our labor representatives in getting us here.”

A third agreement with the Marin Association of Public Employees reopens their contract for specific negotiations. This includes 2025 cost-of-living adjustments and 2026 health benefit costs. These agreements, along with those approved on June 24 and July 8, bring Marin closer to finalizing all labor contracts for its 2,000 employees across 10 bargaining units, emphasizing fair pay, sustainable benefits, and workplace stability, officials said.

Additionally, the Board approved a three-year term for 216 unrepresented employees, providing similar cost-of-living adjustments, market-median salary adjustments and fringe benefits, officials said.
