Motorcyclist Crash Kills San Rafael Man

The Nicasio collision was reported Wednesday at around 6:05 p.m., authorities said.

MARIN COUNTY, CA — A motorcyclist was killed Wednesday night in Nicasio, the Marin County Sheriff’s Office said.

James Glenn Butcher, 65 of San Rafael, was riding alone in the 5000 block of Lucas Valley Road when for unknown reasons he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into a utility pole, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The collision was reported at around 6:05 p.m.

A probe of the crash is ongoing, the Sheriff’s Office said.

“Emergency Services responded to the scene and located the subject unconscious, unresponsive and in cardiopulmonary arrest with bystander aid- CPR being provided,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

“Paramedics provided additional resuscitative aid to the subject on the scene with no change in his condition until his death was pronounced.”

A postmortem examination that will include toxicology testing is expected to be completed on Friday, the Sheriff’s Office said.

“The cause and manner of death will be pending the conclusion of the investigations being completed by the California Highway Patrol – Marin Office and the Marin County Sheriff’s Office - Coroner Division,” the Sheriff’s Office said.
