Pedestrian Killed In Weekend Crash In San Rafael

A man died Saturday after he was struck by a vehicle in a San Rafael intersection, police said Wednesday.

SAN RAFAEL, CA — A pedestrian was hit and killed by a driver at a San Rafael intersection on Saturday evening, and police said Wednesday they did not believe alcohol played a role in the collision.

Officers and paramedics responded to reports of the crash shortly before 8 p.m. near Second Street and A Street, finding an unconcious 36-year-old man with life-threatening injuries. Despite help arriving within a minute of the 911 call, police said the man died from his injuries shortly after he arrived at the hospital.

Police said the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, showing no signs of impairment. Due to the severity of the collision, the department's Major Accident Investigation Team took over the case and will review surveillance footage and other evidence to determine what happened.
