Roadway Reopened In Marin County Following Fire Investigation
Police had shutdown a major roadway as they further looked into the cause of a deadly fire.
SAN RAFAEL, CA — Police have reopened the road Thursday in San Rafael that was previously closed as officials continued to clean up and investigate a fire that killed two people, injured eight and displaced over 50 residents.
San Rafael Police Department officers said that Canal Street between Harbor and Hoag streets is now opened to both cars and pedestrians.
In the early hours of Aug. 21, firefighters responded to a fire at an apartment complex at 516 Canal St.

The fire injured eight people and displaced over 50 from their homes. Police said they have recovered two bodies from the wreckage and have now identified them both.
Police said that four injured residents were transported to the hospital for treatment. Officials reported that one resident, who reportedly jumped from their apartment into the San Rafael Creek, was hospitalized with serious injuries but was in stable condition.
