Marin Evacuations Lifted After Ruptured Gas Pipe Capped
PGE and police and fire department personnel are on the scene.
SAUSALITO, CA — Evacuation orders for a Sausalito neighborhood have been lifted after PG&E crews capped a gas leak.
The gas line break occurred in area of Atwood Avenue and North Street and evacuation orders were issued in an 11:28 a.m. alert on Tuesday.
A crew not associated with PG&E struck a 2-inch distribution line while excavating shortly after 11 a.m., PG&E spokesperson Jason King said.

PG&E crews were able to stop the flow of gas and the evacuations were lifted as of shortly after 1 p.m.
King said 36 customers were without gas as a result of the break, with service restoration expected by Tuesday evening.

PG&E encourages anyone doing a digging project to call 811 to have underground utility lines marked before the project starts.
