San Marin Survives ‘Intense’ MCAL Playoff Battle Against Branson

NOVATO, CA — Junior guards Lailah Carey and Keeley Wright combined for 28 points, and San Marin High beat perennial power Branson 39-38 in a Marin County Athletic League semifinal Wednesday.
Carey scored 17 points and Wright added 11 as the Mustangs (21-4) won their third straight game.
San Marin advances to the MCAL finals for a rematch with rival Marin Catholic (22-4). The two teams will meet for a third time this season Friday at 6 p.m. at Marin Catholic.

Marin Catholic is riding a 14-game winning streak. The Wildcats are coming off a 65-46 MCAL semifinal win against Terra Linda on Wednesday.
San Marin lost to Marin Catholic in the two meetings between the teams this season: 56-37 on Nov. 30 and 43-23 on Jan. 18.
Marin Catholic is ranked No. 5 in the North Coast Section and No. 1 in the NCS Division IV, according to MaxPreps.
