San Rafael Fire Mitigation Grant Program Goes Live
The program is funded by the Marin Wildfire Prevention Authority.
SAN RAFAEL, CA — The San Rafael Fire Department has funds available to help property owners ready for fire season, and the agency is encouraging them to apply.
The funds can pay for eligible work such as vegetation management within 30 feet of a structure, removing bamboo, juniper, or Italian cypress, and home hardening efforts such as replacing vents, windows, or installing gutter guards.

“The San Rafael Fire Department is happy to provide property owners with a Grant Program to financially assist the reduction of wildfire risks on their property,” the agency said in a statement.

“We appreciate all the work you have done to your property thus far and would like to encourage you to continue working at creating a safer environment.”
Applicants should provide before-and-after photos or a copy of their Defensible Space Inspection Summary and “after” photos, a copy of paid receipts and/or invoices from licensed contractors along with their signed Grant Agreement forms.
