San Rafael Gets New Traffic Signal

The new traffic signal went up last month at the intersection of Lucas Valley and Los Gamos in the area of the new Kaiser medical offices.

SAN RAFAEL, CA — A new traffic signal has been installed in San Rafael.

The new traffic signal went up at the intersection of Lucas Valley and Los Gamos in the area of the new Kaiser medical offices.

The traffic signal was turned on July 20.

The intersection also has new sidewalks, green bike lanes, and highly visible striping.

It took a few years to work through the Caltrans approval process since this intersection is next to the freeway on-ramp intersection, city officials said in a statement.

“It takes a team of people to turn on a traffic signal, including the contractor, designer, electricians, engineers, traffic signal company representatives, and city staff,” city officials said.
