San Rafael Is Seeking Artists For 5 Downtown Projects

Artists are urged to apply as soon as possible to work on a handful of mural and sculpture projects.

SAN RAFAEL, CA — Calling all artists — San Rafael is in search of several artists who can fulfill five public art projects in the city's arts district.

The city is encouraging artists who can work on five different opportunities for public mural and sculpture projects in downtown. Officials aim to have these projects installed by 2026, the city said in a news release.

Three mural opportunities are open to California-based artists, while two sculpture opportunities are available for all U.S.-based artists.

The deadline to apply is July 25 by 5 p.m. Apply directly at the Local Edition Creative.

Downtown San Rafael is designated as one of California's 14 Cultural Arts Districts by the California Arts Council. The program was made possible through a grant from the council to help grow and sustain arts and culture opportunities in the area.
