'Violent Spree' Ends With 3 Arrests In San Rafael

Three juveniles are accused of committing multiple violent robberies before leading police on a suit toward downtown San Rafael.

SAN RAFAEL, CA — Three young people are in custody and could face multiple felonies after a crime spree in San Rafael that ended with a police chase.

In a news release, police said the first report of violence came in Wednesday morning a victim who said they were beaten and robbed by masked suspects in the Terra Linda High School parking lot. Around the same time, dispatchers fielded a call from paramedics who reported a white Chevrolet Suburban driving past Terra Linda Kaiser Hospital, with occupants wearing ski masks.

While officers deployed to both calls, another caller said they were attacked and robbed on Nova Albion Way. As more officers responded to that call, they spotted a white Suburban parked near Munson Park. Police attempted to stop the vehicle and it sped away.

Another officer started following the SUV and reported its occupants were wearing ski masks, calling for backup as the vehicle headed southbound onto U.S. 101. Police said the vehicle exited at Lincoln Avenue and ran a red light before heading toward downtown San Rafael. Another attempt to stop the vehicle was unsuccessful.

According to police, as public safety concerns mounted, multiple officers set up to intercept the vehicle at Lincoln and Mission avenues. The driver slowed and came to a stop as they approached the police vehicles in the SUV's path.

Officers moved in for a high-risk stop and took the three suspects into custody without incident. Three juveniles were booked into Main County Juvenile Hall on suspicion of felony robbery and felony evading.
