Wanted Attempted Murder Suspect Captured In Marin: Cops

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — A wanted Sonoma County attempted murder sought in connection with the Christmas Day stabbing of a rideshare driver has been arrested, authorities said.

Tristan Mathew Hardin, 19, of Santa Rosa, was arrested Sunday night in Marin County by the California Highway Patrol, the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office wrote on its Facebook page.

Hardin was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is being held on $1 million bail, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities described the crime as “random act of violence.”

At around 6 p.m., the driver picked up Hardin in the 1700 block of Yulupa Avenue in Santa Rosa and took him to the entrance of Shiloh Ranch Regional Park, where upon arrival, Hardin stabbed the driver twice in the neck and once in the elbow, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The victim drove himself to a local hospital for treatment, the Sheriff’s Office said.

“Violent Crimes detectives believe this was a random act of violence,” the Sheriff’s Office said.
