SAN RAFAEL, CA — San Rafael police arrested a San Jose woman Wednesday on suspicion of stealing $5,700 worth of clothing from Victoria's Secret stores.

The Victoria's Secret store in the Northgate Mall in Terra Linda called police around 7:45 p.m. about a woman who left the store without paying for merchandise, Lt. Dan Fink said.

Based on the suspect's description, Officer Thomas Collins believed the suspect also stole clothing from the Victoria's Secret store in San Rafael on Jan. 15, Fink said.

Collins followed a silver BMW X3 that was heading north on Las Gallinas Avenue near the mall onto southbound U.S. Highway 101 and stopped the car in the 1800 block of Lincoln Avenue in San Rafael, Fink said.

The BMW driver, Harmonie Taylor, 26, of San Jose, gave Collins a false name and denied being at the store in the Northgate Mall, but Collins noticed a Victoria's Secret bag behind the front passenger seat, Fink said.

Collins found clothing items worth $2,700 from the San Rafael store, some with the security tags still attached, during a search of the vehicle, and $3,000 worth of additional items stolen from another Victoria's Secret store whose location is unknown, Fink said.

Taylor was arrested on suspicion of burglary, false personation of another, possession of stolen property and three outstanding warrants. She was booked into the Marin County Jail, Fink said.
