San Ramon, Pleasanton Have Highest Quality Of Life In Country: U.S. Social Progress Map

SAN RAMON, CA — San Ramon and Pleasanton have the first and second highest quality of life respectively in the U.S., according to a new study from the U.S. Social Progress Map that measures factors like safety, health, education, and access to opportunity.

The U.S. Social Progress map measures 50 indicators that affect quality of life, including:

  • Basic Human Needs: Housing, safety, healthcare, nutrition, basic medical care, water & sanitation, shelter, personal safety and more
  • Foundations of Wellbeing: Education, environmental quality, access to information & communication
  • Opportunity: Personal rights, inclusiveness, and freedom of choice

San Ramon received an a 75.8 out of 100 for Basic Needs, 69.6 for Foundations of Wellbeing, and 62.2 for Opportunity, averaging 69.2. Pleasanton scored a 70.1 in Basic Needs, 68.4 in Foundations of Wellbeing, and 60.6 in Opportunity.
