San Ramon Walmart Neighborhood Market Robbed At Gunpoint

Two 18-year-old suspects are in custody in connection with an armed robbery of the Walmart Neighborhood Market on Alcosta Boulevard.

SAN RAMON, CA — Two suspects are in custody following an armed robbery at the Walmart Neighborhood Market on 9100 Alcosta Boulevard in San Ramon, according to the San Ramon Police Department.

The robbery took place Tuesday just before 12:55 p.m., police said. Video surveillance showed a Black male wearing a black sweater pointing a handgun at the employee and forcing them to hand over cash. Both suspects fled before police arrived, but police got the license plate number, and determined that their car was in Richmond.

The Richmond Police Department located the suspect car shortly after the robbery, and San Ramon detectives responded. During surveillance of the suspect Lexus, two suspects entered the vehicle. Richmond officers arrested both suspects, and they were taken into custody.

The suspects were identified as Joseph Jones, 18, of Richmond; and Armani English, 18, of San Pablo. They were both booked at the Martinez Detention Facility on armed robbery charges.

In February 2024,two suspects attempted to rob the same Walmart location. The two suspects reportedly attempted to remove the cash drawers unsuccessfully, and fled before police arrived, the San Ramon Police Department said at the time. No weapons were seen, and Walmart reported no loss.

On the same day, two suspects robbed the Walmart on Rosewood Avenue in Pleasanton. According to the Pleasanton Police Department, two individuals entered the store, grabbed cash boxes, and ran away to a getaway car. Pleasanton officers located the cash boxes abandoned near Old Santa Rita Road and Rosewood Drive. The store reported a loss of $341.

No injuries were reported, and police did not say whether or not the suspects were armed.

Patch reached out to the San Ramon and Pleasanton police departments to determine if suspects in either of those robberies were ever caught.
