Bishop Ranch Breaks Ground On 1.4-Acre Heritage Park

The future Bishop Ranch park will feature a large lawn, garden, picnic grove, and an interactive playhouse.

SAN RAMON, CA — The Sunset Development Company is breaking ground on Heritage Park, a new 1.4-acre park in the middle of Bishop Ranch.

Located adjacent to the recently opened Belmont Village senior living, the park will include a tree-lined promenade, lawn, picnic grove, garden, and a tribute to the San Ramon leaders after whom the park is named.

The park will also feature Bishop Ranch's first folly, a series of $20 million permanent public artworks that will be integrated throughout Bishop Ranch over the next decade. The Little Big House, designed by Robert Behar and Rosario Marquardt of R&R Studios, will be an oversized playhouse that offers interactive activities, seating, and shade.

“Heritage Park is the next step in our vision to create a vibrant, people-first neighborhood,” Sunset Development Company President and CEO Alex Mehran, Jr. said in a statement. “It’s designed to be a true community hub—a place where families can picnic, kids can explore and neighbors of all ages can come together and enjoy connection and relaxation. Heritage Park marks the debut of our public art program as we work to create an enduring and evolving world-class destination for the arts, one that reveals, reinforces and elevates Bishop Ranch’s identity and sense of place.”
