Boy, 8, Brought Gun To San Ramon School: Officials

The boy allegedly brought the gun to campus in his backpack and showed it to another student.

SAN RAMON, CA —An 8-year-old boy allegedly brought a loaded 9mm firearm in his backpack to his San Ramon elementary school Tuesday, according to police. The boy is a third grade student at Twin Creeks Elementary School, located at 2785 Marsh Drive, police said.

After bringing the gun to campus, the boy allegedly showed it to another student. That student later told a parent, who reported the incident to the school's staff. The gun was never brandished or used to threaten anyone.

Officers were able to speak with the boy and his parents at their home and located the firearm still in the boy's backpack. No other firearms were found at the home, police said. The boy is facing disciplinary action, according to a letter sent to parents today from San Ramon Valley Unified School District spokeswoman
Elizabeth Graswich.
