Community Leaders Gather In San Ramon For 988 Dedication Ceremony
Leaders from San Ramon, Danville, and Contra Costa County gathered in Central Park to dedicate signs promoting mental health awareness.

SAN RAMON, CA — More than 100 people gathered at San Ramon's Central Park to celebrate countywide efforts to publicize the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, a free, 24/7 resource available to anyone undergoing a mental health crisis.
The project from the Leadership San Ramon Valley Class of 2025 aims to work with numerous different government agencies, educational institutions, health organizations, private corporations, and community groups to cover Contra Costa County with information about the hotline throughout the month of May.
The town of Danville is sharing 988 information in community centers and park kiosks, as well as through social media and other communications, and the city of San Ramon is placing 64 988 signs in all its city-managed parks.

At the unveiling last Thursday, speakers included San Ramon Vice Mayor Sridhar Verose, who read a San Ramon City Council proclamation expressing the city's commitment to addressing mental health issues. Danville Mayor Renee Morgan spoke of Danville's commitment to mental health support, and introduced two speakers of the Danville Youth Council, which recently ran a Day of Wellness event.
San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District Chief Paige Meyer and San Ramon Chief of Police Denton Carlson both discussed new initiatives to support behavioral and mental health calls.

Other speakers included Assemblymember Rebecca Bauer-Kahan, District 2 Supervisor Candace Anderson, and SRVUSD student Selma Bahrani.
