Construction Begins On 2-Building, 456-Residence Bishop Ranch Apartments
AvalonBay purchased 5.7 acres in Bishop Ranch for two apartments, which are expected to welcome their first residents in 2027.

SAN RAMON, CA — AvalonBay Communities has purchased a 5.7-acre site at 6200 Bollinger Road from Sunset Development Company, clearing the way for construction of a new 456-unit residential community within Bishop Ranch to begin by the end of December.
The long-empty site will become Avalon San Ramon, a new apartment community that expects to welcome its first residents in late 2027, according to Sunset. The buildings will comprise two five and seven-story buildings linked by a breezeway, and will include a fitness center, pool, work lounge, clubhouse, rooftop deck, and pet spa.
The apartments are part of a building frenzy going on at Bishop Ranch. Camino Ramon, a 200-unit affordable housing community developed by Eden Housing was recently approved for 2453 Camino Ramon. Two new proposals under review would convert existing office buildings into hundreds of new apartments. Bishop Ranch will eventually feature 8,000 homes, as well as shops, a boutique hotel, and further commercial development.

At Bishop Ranch, Sunset Development has created the kind of vibrant, walkable, mixed-use community that our residents love. We're proud to provide new thoughtfully designed homes to help complete their vision for this neighborhood,” said Joe Kirchofer, senior vice president of development at AvalonBay.
