San Ramon Middle School Initiates Secure Campus Following Threat
A student reported being threatened by a non-student Monday, prompting a police response. Police deemed the threat non-credible.
SAN RAMON, CA — Pine Valley Middle School initiated a secure campus Monday after a student reported being threatened by a non-student, according to the San Ramon Police Department and the San Ramon Valley Unified School District. The secure campus lasted from roughly 3-3:30 p.m., according to a district spokesperson.
A secure campus means that normal school operations continue, but the school limits movement on campus.
Uniformed and plain clothes officers arrived on campus. Following a preliminary investigation, police determined that there was no imminent threat. The lockdown was lifted and students were released.

Police said they continue to investigate the incident.
"This decision was made because we received information about a possible, unspecified threat against the school. We immediately worked with the San Ramon Police Department (SRPD), which thoroughly investigated and confirmed that there was no credible threat at the time of dismissal. Once we received confirmation, we lifted the “secure” status and released students in accordance with our regular dismissal protocols," Pine Valley Principal Sandy Kontilis said in a statement, one of three updates the school posted on its website.
