DVHS Students Develop Tennis Court Availability App: Press Release
The City of San Ramon has approved a new app developed by local students that uses crowdsourcing to determine court availability.

Press release from Varun Vaidya:
SAN RAMON, CA — Dougherty Valley High School students and alumni Varun Vaidya, Rohan Vaidya, and Rahi Kotadia have developed Quorts, an app that has been approved by the City of San Ramon and uses crowdsourced data to show the number of public tennis courts available at a particular tennis facility.
In order to provide accurate court availability information to users at home, players at public courts are encouraged to make updates about the availability of courts. “All we ask is that you make one update when you arrive at the courts and one when you leave,” Varun said. “The more community members that can provide frequent and accurate updates, the more useful the app becomes to the community.”

While at the courts, tennis court availability can be updated in one of two ways. One way is for users to enter the number of available courts for a particular location through the app. Another way is to utilize Q-box, a compact interactive gadget specially created to make updating courts a smooth process. For users at designated locations equipped with Q-box, court availability can be updated quickly and easily with the press of a button.
"I am excited about the future of Quorts and the positive impact it can have on the community," says Varun. "We envision Quorts becoming a comprehensive platform for all types of court sports, with features like player matching and more accurate real-time updates on court conditions. With the support of the community, we believe we can achieve this vision and be to go-to app for all public sports players to skip the waiting and get straight to playing."
