Is it Time for San Ramon to Ditch the Plastic Bags?

Pittsburg will likely follow El Cerrito and Richmond with an anti-plastic bag ordinance. Should the county make a single law, or should the city?

There’s a good chance that next month Pittsburg will become the third Contra Costa community to ban plastic bags.

Richmond and El Cerrito have already passed ordinances outlawing plastic bags, and San Pablo and Lafayette are mulling similar rules. Plastic bags are already verboten in all of Alameda County.

Backers of plastic bag bans argue that they imperil marine life and are just plain ugly. Is it time for the Board of Supervisors to make a single plastic bag rule for all of Contra Costa County? Patch has asked the question before, and opinion ran strongly against a countywide ban. Have you changed your mind?
