San Ramon All-Stars Win Spot In 2019 PGA Jr. League Championship

With a win in Colorado over the weekend, the young golfers claimed their slot in the upcoming championship.

SAN RAMON, CA — Thanks to a win in regional competition over the weekend, the San Ramon All-Stars are advancing to the 2019 PGA Jr. League Championship next month.

During the Sept. 14-15 regional tournament at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder, Colorado, the young Tri-Valley golfers eked out a half-point win over the 2015 and 2018 PGA Jr. League Champions, the San Diego County League 1 All-Stars, to earn a coveted championship spot. The California teams were evenly matched, tying their game 6 to 6 in the morning session.

In the afternoon, the Encinitas-based former champions defeated the Island Pacific All-Stars of Kapolei, Hawaii, 10 to 2. Similarly, the San Ramon All-Stars won their second match-up 8 ½ to 3 ½ against the Grayhawk All-Stars of Scottsdale, Arizona.

On the final day of play, the San Ramon All-Stars’ win over the Grayhawk All-Stars 7 to 5 provided the push they needed to punch their ticket to the championship, which is set for Oct. 11-14 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona. The All-Stars are one of 12 teams vying in the coveted event.
