San Ramon Valley Teachers Honored For Service

San Ramon Valley Unified School District teachers and administrators have been recognized for their commitment to education.

SAN RAMON, CA - Multiple teachers within the San Ramon Valley Unified School District have been honored for their work and commitment in education, the district announced in a news release.

High school band director Cheryl Yee Glass with San Ramon Valley High was awarded the David Goedecke Lifetime Achievement Award. The award is given to an educator who has dedicated their passion at a state and national level.

Glass has been with the district for 40 years directing the orchestra, wind ensembles, jazz ensemble and the marching band program. Glass, the previous regional and state president of the California Association for Music Eduction, was the 2012 winner of the Bay Section Outstanding Music Educator Award.

Megan Keefer, Principal of California High School, and Christine Koehne, the Special Needs Liaison in Educational Services, both received Administrator of the Year awards for region six in the Diablo Valley Charter of the Association of California School Administrators.

Georgi Cappelletti and Chavonta Edington were named Teacher of the Year for the 2021/2022 school year. Cappelletti is a fourth grade teacher at Tassajara Hills Elementary in Danville and Edington is a music teacher at Diablo Vista Middle School in Danville.

Superintendent John Malloy said all of the honorees showcase the model for the district and its dedication to student success.

“They demonstrate every day how to create and nurture deep learning and innovation and epitomize how to effectively create a culture of trust and collegiality through shared leadership.”
