Schedule A Mammogram For Breast Cancer Awareness Month: SRRMC

San Ramon Regional Medical Center offers same-day mammogram appointments.

SAN RAMON, CA — October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the San Ramon Regional Medical Center is spotlighting the services it offers to treat and detect breast cancer. If detected early, the five-year survival rate for breast cancer is 98 percent, according to the hospital.

The Breast Center at San Ramon Regional Medical Center offers same-day mammogram appointments. Technicians uses 3D mammography, or breast tomosynthesis to screen cancer, which produces a three-dimensional view of breast tissue, the hospital said in a news release. When combined with 2D mammography, this procedure boasts a 40 percent higher invasive cancer detection rate than 2D mammography.

The hospital also uses a localization technology that has been shown to decrease patient discomfort. The SCOUT Wire-Free Radar Breast Localization System uses non-radioactive, radar technology rather than a wire to accurately detect the location of the reflector.
