A Union City woman has pleaded not guilty to several charges, including attempted murder, stalking, and child abuse.

SAN RAMON, CA — A Union City woman pleaded not guilty Tuesday to a five-count felony complaint for attempted murder, stalking, child abuse, and criminal threats, according to the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office. Xiaojie Zhang, 40, was charged in connection with shooting a 17-year-old in San Ramon on Nov. 23. The victim suffered a non-life-threatening injury and was released from the hospital, according to the DA and the San Ramon Police Department.

Zhang is charged with attempted murder, stalking two people, making criminal threats, and child abuse. Enhancements were added for “personal and intentional discharge of a firearm causing great bodily injury or death,” and “personal use of a firearm,” in connection to the attempted murder and child abuse charges.

San Ramon police arrested Zhang at her Union City home on a $1 million Ramey Warrant, and said they located two firearms at her residence. Police also said that Zhang and the victim knew one another, but declined to elaborate further. Authorities have not released any details about the second alleged stalking victim.
