Six New Firefighters Pledge to Protect Citizens of San Ramon Valley

Each new Firefighter/Paramedic will begin serving the San Ramon Valley immediately and are stationed throughout the jurisdiction.

On Monday August, 5, 2013, six new Firefighter and Paramedics took their Oath of Office at a badge pinning ceremony in front of family, friends, co-workers and local officials. 

Fire Chief Paige Meyer introduced the “Tassajara Firehawks”, the name chosen by the academy graduates, and presented them with their helmets. 

Each graduate selected a family member to officially place their Fire District Badge on their uniform as part of the pinning ceremony. With their right hand raised, each new recruit pledged to protect the citizens of the San Ramon Valley.

In addition to the required certifications, paramedic experience and California State Fire Marshal approved Firefighter 1 academy, they had to have prior to employment, all six graduated from an intensive training program developed by the District.

The San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District is an internationally-accredited special district that provides all-risk fire, rescue and emergency medical services to the communities of Alamo, Blackhawk, the Town of Danville, Diablo, the City of San Ramon, the southern area of Morgan Territory and the Tassajara Valley, in Northern California (Contra Costa County).

The District’s service area encompasses approximately 155 square miles and serves a population of 170,000.
