Police Seek Mustang Driver In Fatal Hit-And-Run In Santa Monica

SANTA MONICA, CA — Authorities Friday are asking the public's help to identify a driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run in Santa Monica, releasing an image of the suspect's vehicle.

The fatal crash happened about 8:04 p.m. Nov. 13 near 10th Street and Pico Boulevard, according to Lt. Rudy Flores of the Santa Monica Police Department.

Officers arrived and found the pedestrian suffering from massive trauma wounds, Flores said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigation revealed that the pedestrian was struck by a white Ford Mustang, Flores said.

"While lying in the roadway, the victim was struck by a second vehicle, the owner of which remained on scene," he added.

SMPD's Major Accident Response Team was called and started their investigation, which
has spanned several months, Flores said.

The suspect vehicle has been identified as a white Ford Mustang; analysis of the body style suggests the vehicle’s model year is around 2015, he said.

"The vehicle’s path of travel was tracked on security cameras in the area," he said. "It is believed the suspect vehicle sustained a broken front windshield and damage to the front driver’s side. Investigators also believe the driver of the vehicle might have lived in or at least frequented the area of the collision and are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the driver."
