SANTA MONICA, CA — Nick Reiner, accused of fatally stabbing his parents, checked into a Santa Monica hotel hours before his arrest, but a timeline of events remains unclear, according to multiple reports.
The 32-year-old was charged Tuesday with two counts of murder in the killing of his parents — Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner — at their Brentwood home in the early morning hours of Dec. 14, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
Nick Reiner is accused of fleeing the home after the fatal stabbings but was arrested hours later at about 9:15 p.m. in Exposition Park in South Los Angeles, about 15 miles from his parents’ home, according to prosecutors and police.

Los Angeles Police Department Deputy Chief Alan S. Hamilton told The New York Times authorities were investigating Nick Reiner’s “travels from when we think he left the party, all the way to when he was arrested.”

The hotel and the crosswalk near USC where he was arrested, are close to E Line train stops. Police have not said if they located the weapon used in the slayings.
Neither the Pierside Santa Monica nor the Sage Hospitality Group, which manages the hotel, immediately responded to Patch’s request for comment.
The beachfront hotel is steps from the Santa Monica Pier, with rooms starting at just over $200 per night.
According to ABC7, multiple videos show the moments leading up to Reiner's arrest. One video shows him wearing jeans, a jacket and a baseball cap with a red backpack over his shoulder as he buys a drink at a gas station in Exposition Park, the outlet reported.
Another shows him walking near a crosswalk when police vehicles with flashing lights speed toward him and surround him, prompting him to raise his hands in the air, ABC7 reported.
According to TMZ, Nick Reiner got into a heated argument with his parents at Conan O'Brien's Christmas party the night before the couple was found dead.
A hotel staff member, who spoke with The Los Angeles Times on the condition of anonymity, told the newspaper police had been investigating at the hotel since Sunday and were still there on Tuesday afternoon.
