Dick Van Dyke Surprises Patrons at Santa Monica Denny's with Impromptu Performance
The Malibu resident was singing with his a cappella group, the Vantastix. He and the group will be performing in Cerritos later this month.

SANTA MONICA, CA — Quick, were you at Denny's in Santa Monica this past week? If so, you may be one of the lucky few that got to see Dick Van Dyke give an impromptu performance.
In a video posted Friday, the 90-year-old veteran performer busted out a rendition of "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" with his a capella group, Vantastix, from his hit 1968 film of the same name. The video was posted on YouTube by Los Angeles scrapbook designer Cindy Rohrbough.
Van Dyke seems delighted for the video to surface on YouTube. He shared the link on Facebookt o his 50,000-plus followers Saturday.

"Breakfast at Denny's, with a side of grits makes me want to sing!!" Van Dyke wrote.
Since then, the post has been shared more than 1,000 times and the video has been viewed nearly 8,000 times.

Van Dyke will be performing popular tunes from his stage and film works, including "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang," with the Vantastix on Aug. 28 at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts Center, in what is billed as a preseason special.
