Residents are surprised and aren't happy about the move. They don't want to pay the city's tickets, saying the decision wasn't publicized and that locals don't know the street cleaning is back because it's still a pandemic. Street sweeping has been postponed and parking restrictions have been relaxed throughout the pandemic.

Patch reader Ata Soofi Siavash complained of a street sweeping ticket they received this week during street cleaning in Santa Monica.

"On Tuesday I got $73. parking tickets on Euclid Street due to street cleaning. The city should have somehow informed the residents that they are resuming street cleaning, they didn't. I went to their site to print the form for contesting the citation, but can't print, any idea besides physically going to parking department to get a contest form?"

Patch reached out to the city for more information on how many people have received citations so far this week.
