Lionsgate's 'Hunger Games' to Hit $300 Million Mark

"Hunger Games" is the top movie in the country again, easily besting "American Reunion" and bringing in $12.9 million on Friday alone, THR reports.

The film obviously remains a mega hit for Lionsgate and is expected to hit the $300 million mark in record time (excluding summer and holiday releases). It's a massive win...

"Hunger Games" will be the first movie to pass the $300 million mark since last year's "Transformers" sequel ($352.4 million cumulative gross) and "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2" ($381 million).

It's unclear, however, if the continued success of the film will help Lionsgate solve the franchise's biggest problem. Conflicting press reports have in recent days offered a dramatic storyline in the search for a "Catching Fire" director. "Fire" is the second novel in the Suzanne Collins series on which the "Hunger Games" movies are based.
