September is Coastal Cleanup Month, and on Saturday, Sept. 23, dozens of beach cleanups will take place across the shores of LA County.

SANTA MONICA, CA — Now that summer is nearing its end, it's time to say "thank you" to the many beautiful beaches that have been serving us well all season.

That's right, this September is Coastal Cleanup Month — and a statewide beach cleanup day is underway in Santa Monica.

This Saturday, Sept. 23, dozens of beaches spread across the coast of Los Angeles will not only see the familiar beach towels, surfboards and fold-out chairs of beachgoers but also the efforts of countless residents picking up discarded trash from the sandy shores.
