Man Critically Hurt in Santa Monica Hit-And-Run Crash
Police are asking for the public's help in finding the suspected car and driver.
SANTA MONICA, CA -- Police are asking for the public's help in finding the driver in a hit-and-run crash that critically injured a pedestrian in Santa Monica early Sunday morning.
Police received a call around 1:50 a.m. about a pedestrian lying on the road in the 2400 block of Nielson Way, Santa Monica police Lt. Saul Rodriguez said.
"Upon arrival, officers discovered an unresponsive male pedestrian with significant head trauma," he said. Paramedics from the Santa Monica Fire Department treated the man at the scene and transported him to an area hospital.

The unidentified man remains hospitalized in critical condition, Rodriguez said.
A preliminary investigation shows that a silver sedan, possibly a 2012 to 2016 Toyota Camry, fled the scene after hitting the pedestrian, he said.

"The vehicle may have substantial front-end damage to the driver’s side," Rodriguez said. "SMPD has not received any information on the driver or possible occupants of the suspect vehicle."
Police have released photos of what they think the suspect vehicle looks like.
An investigation is ongoing and police urged anyone who was in the area near the time of the accident to contact Officer S. Pace at (310) 458-8993, Investigator J. Olson at (310) 458-8954 or the Santa Monica Police Department at (310) 458-8491.
