Motorcycle Crash Shuts Down PCH In Santa Monica

A crash between a jeep and a motorcycle left one person seriously injured and closed both directions of PCH during for hours.

SANTA MONICA , CA — A collision involving a Jeep and a motorcycle Monday in Santa Monica left the rider seriously injured and forced the closure of a stretch of Pacific Coast Highway during the afternoon rush.

The crash was reported about 5:20 p.m. in the 1100 block of PCH, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The rider suffered critical injuries and was taken to a hospital, according to CBS2.

Traffic was halted in both directions.

Vehicles headed for northbound PCH were diverted from the westbound Santa Monica (10) Freeway to Fourth Street and southbound traffic was diverted at California Incline, according to the CHP, which issued a SigAlert.

Southbound lanes reopened just after 10 p.m., the CHP said. Northbound PCH was reopened about 7:10 p.m., according to the Santa Monica Police Department.
