- FOR A NIGHT ON THE TOWN
Where/When: ; 7-10 p.m. Thursday
Why go: Australian country singer-songwriter Kasey Chambers will headline this week's Twilight Concert Series. She will sing her hits in addition to tracks from her new all-covers album, Storybook. Folks singer Matt Ellis will also play along with new talent D Henry Fenton, and environmentalist, author and designer, Jamie Durie, is set to host the evening of Australian music, art and culture.

Where/When: ; 6 p.m. Sunday
Why go: Actor and producer Jamie Foxx will help present a night of jazz, food and a special private screening of the critically acclaimed film Thunder Soul. Proceeds from the event will support the work of Youth Mentoring Connection, a Los Angeles-based organization that matches inner city youth with mentors in the entertainment industry.

Why go: The Venice-based band—described as a blend of New Orleans swing, gypsy jazz, Appalachian folk and jug-band blues will launch this year's Jazz on the Lawn series. Weekly jazz concerts are each Sunday evening in August. Concertgoers are encouraged to bring picnics and beach chairs.

STRAND STREET YOGA

Why go: Donation-based classes taught by Yoga Alliance-certified instructors and open to all levels build community and help make yoga accessible and affordable to any one wanting to practice. Namaste!
