A pedestrian was injured in a hit-and-run crash on Pacific Coast Highway early Tuesday morning, police said.

SANTA MONICA, CA — A pedestrian was injured early Tuesday morning in a hit-and-run crash on Pacific Coast Highway, according to the Santa Monica Police Department.

Police responded to Pacific Coast Highway, between the pier and California Incline, at around midnight. The victim, who is in his 20s, was transported to a local hospital where he is listed in stable condition, police said.

The driver who hit the victim returned after fleeing the scene. The driver is in custody and is cooperating with the investigation, police said.

Police have not determined if drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the crash.
