SANTA MONICA, CA — A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Santa Monica Sunday night and the driver remains at large, according to police.

Officers responded to the intersection of Chelsea Avenue and Wilshire Boulevard near Douglas Park at around 6:40 p.m. Sunday in response to multiple calls regarding a woman who was struck by a vehicle, according to the Santa Monica Police Department.

Authorities found the victim at the scene, where she died shortly after their arrival, police said.

The suspect's vehicle was last seen traveling eastbound on Wilshire Boulevard "at a high rate of speed."

Police did not provide the victim's name or a description of the suspect's vehicle.
