Police Ask For Help in Identifying Assault Suspect
The victim, an active duty U.S. Marine, suffered major injuries to his head and face, and has undergone several surgeries to repair the damage.

Police asked for help Tuesday in identifying a man who punched and seriously injured a Marine at a Santa Monica nightclub.
The assault occurred just before midnight on Feb. 22 at the nightclub Zanzibar, 1301 5th St., according to Santa Monica Police Sgt. Richard Lewis.
The victim, an active duty U.S. Marine, was dancing when the suspect punched him in the face without provocation, causing the Marine to black out for 10 to 15 minutes, Lewis said.

The victim's friend was also struck when he tried to step in between the suspect and the victim, according to Lewis. The suspect fled southbound on 5th Street.
The Marine suffered major injuries to his head and face, and has undergone several surgeries to repair the damage, Lewis said.

The suspect is described as white or Hispanic in his mid to late 30s, between 6 feet or 6 foot three inches tall and 230 to 270 pounds. He has a shaved head, mustache and goatee.
On the night of the assault, he was wearing a black and white striped shirt and dark jeans.
The suspect was accompanied by a female who was described as Hispanic or Asian, 28 to 32 years old, five feet two inches to five feet four inches tall, medium build, wearing a gold colored shirt. Lewis said the woman has not yet been identified.
