Red Salmon Complex Fire: Santa Monica Firefighters Join The Fight
Santa Monica Fire Department sent four team members to join the fight to contain the Red Salmon Complex Fire in Northern California.

SANTA MONICA, CA — Firefighters are joining crews from across the state to help contain large fires burning in Northern California.
Four additional team members from Santa Monica Fire Department were sent to fight the Red Salmon Complex Fire in Humboldt County, officials said Thursday. Two department members were deployed Aug. 7 and another two additional firefighters Aug. 17.
One Santa Monica fire incident commander was deployed to the August Complex Fire in Santa Cruz on Aug. 18. One logistics specialist from the department was deployed to Dolan Fire in Big Sur on Aug. 19.

More than 1,215 people battling the Red Salmon Complex Fire. It was 38 percent contained by Wednesday night, according to KRCR News.
"They are situated in a steep, heavily forested area & continue to work in supporting both Engine & Hotshot crews," Santa Monica fire officials said. "All members are well."

Santa Monica Fire Department is assisting in the fight against several California fires, including the Apple Fire and Stagecoach Fire.
Several other local agencies have sent fire officials to help battle flames across the state. Santa Monica continues to send firefighters to help in recovery efforts, officials told Patch.
"There is no interruption in emergency services to the Santa Monica community while fire department personnel are deployed for mutual aid. Crews are backfilled immediately and staff reserve apparatus when necessary," a fire department spokesperson told Patch.
