Drone Deliveries From Walmart Are Coming To SoCal
Most orders are delivered within 30 minutes, according to the company.

Drones will soon be dropping off Walmart orders in Southland yards.
The retailer and Wing, a drone company owned by Google parent Alphabet, announced on Sunday that they will expand their drone delivery service to an additional 150 Walmart stores over the next year. That includes stores in the Los Angeles metro area, according to the company. While Wing hasn't said exactly which Southland stores will be included, the LA metro area stretches across the Inland Empire and to Orange County.

“We’ve spent years building our technology to ensure that when you realize you’re out of eggs or need over-the-counter medicine, the solution is just a few taps away, seamlessly integrated into existing store operations” Wing CEO Adam Woodworth said. “We believe even the smallest package deserves the speed and reliability of a great delivery service. Working with Walmart has allowed us to prove that delivering these critical, everyday items in minutes makes a significant difference for families. We are proud to bring that capability to more communities across the country.”
Some of the most popular items include ice cream, eggs and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, the Associated Press reported.

Here's how it works: Customers place their order through the Wing app and select a precise delivery location on their property. Workers load the order in special containers carried by the drones. Then the drones fly at 60 mph and 150 feet off the ground, lowering the package to the ground once it arrives at its destination, according to Wing.
The company says most orders are delivered within 30 minutes.
Wing's flagship drone can handle payloads of up to 2.5 pounds; newer models can handle up to 5 pounds, The Verge reported.
Wing also operates drones for DoorDash deliveries in some markets.
