Santa Monica Could Be Site of Beach Volleyball If Olympics Returns to L.A.

The event would be held at a temporary 12,000-person venue next to the Pier

Santa Monica, CA — If the Olympics returns to Los Angeles in 2024, the city could be the host of the beach volleyball tournament, officials from LA 2024 said.

The committee laid out its plan at a meeting Monday, the Santa Monica Daily Press reported.

Those plans include regional clusters hosting multiple events.

Santa Monica, which belongs to the Coastal cluster, would host beach volleyball, open swimming and the triathlon. The beach volleyball event would be held at a temporary 12,000-person venue next to the Pier, according to the Daily Press.

Los Angeles is competing with other worldly cities, including Paris, Budapest and Rome for the right to host the summer games in 2024.
