Santa Monica Hospital Among 10 Best In California: New Ranking
Two Santa Monica hospitals were named among the best in California in a new ranking released by Newsweek.

SANTA MONICA, CA — UCLA Health Santa Monica Medical Center is among the top 10 hospitals in California, according to a new ranking released this week from Newsweek. It's one of two Santa Monica hospitals to appear on the statewide list.
The publication worked with data firm Statista to analyze hundreds of medical facilities across the country to create the America’s Best In-State Hospitals 2025 report, based on metrics from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, the AHA Annual Survey of Hospitals Database, patient experience surveys, and a nationwide online survey of medical professionals.
Stanford Hospital was the top-ranked hospital in California and received a Patient Experience Award.

Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Westwood placed second, receiving high marks in voluntary "Patient-Reported Outcome Measures" (PROMs) surveys.
UCLA Health Santa Monica Medical Center came in at No. 8 on the statewide list and is the fourth-best hospital in Los Angeles County, according to the ranking.

Santa Monica's Providence Saint John's Health Center was ranked No. 28 statewide and ranks ninth among hospitals in the county.

- Stanford Health Care - Stanford Hospital
- UCLA Health - Ronald Reagan Medical Center (Los Angeles)
- UCSF Medical Center (San Francisco)
- Cedars-Sinai Medical Center (Los Angeles)
- Jacobs Medical Center at UC San Diego Health
- Keck Hospital of USC (Los Angeles)
- Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla
- UCLA Health - Santa Monica Medical Center
- UC Irvine Medical Center (Orange)
- Sharp Memorial Hospital (San Diego)
The 2025 best in-state hospitals list features medical facilities in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. The hospitals were ranked based on quality metrics from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and national surveys, including:
- The American Hospital Association’s Annual Survey of Hospitals Database, an online nationwide survey among medical professionals;
- Results from Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems patient-experience surveys; and
- Voluntary implementation surveys on PROMs (patient-reported outcome measures).
